Tarot ยท Major Arcana

The 22 Major Arcana cards are the soul of the Tarot โ€” from the innocent Fool to the fulfilled World, depicting the complete journey of spiritual growth and self-awakening.

๐Ÿ“œ The Origins of Tarot

Tarot originated in 15th-century Italy as a card game called "Tarocchi." It was not until the 18th century that French occultist Jean-Baptiste Alliette first used Tarot for divination, pioneering the tradition of Tarot mysticism.

The most popular modern deck, the Rider-Waite Tarot, was designed by A.E. Waite and illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith, published in 1910. The Rider-Waite deck consists of 78 cards divided into the Major Arcana (22 cards, representing major life themes) and the Minor Arcana (56 cards, representing everyday events).

The 22 Major Arcana, from The Fool (#0) to The World (#XXI), depict a complete spiritual journey: setting out in innocence, experiencing trials and awakenings, and ultimately reaching fulfillment and unity. Each card contains deep symbolic meaning, expressing the archetypal images of the human collective unconscious.
